Fall Foliage Escape to the Gilded Age at Lyndhurst & Untermeyer

  • Lyndhurst Mansion 635 South Broadway Tarrytown, NY, 10591 United States (map)

The fall season is the most stunning time to head up the Hudson and soak up the glory of both the Gilded Age and the fall colors! On Saturday, September 28th, Art-full members are invited to join us for our annual fall foliage day trip — this year featuring private, guided tours of both Lyndhurst Mansion and Untermyer Gardens.

Full details:

We’ll meet in Midtown before a quick 1-hour drive to Tarrytown, where we’ll enjoy the limited edition Fall Classic Mansion tour of Lyndhurst, The one-hour guided tour covers the first two floors of the Gothic Revival mansion, which is said to be the nation’s finest. It will be gloriously decked out for the fall season with additional interior decor items from the previous owners’ collections embodying the aesthetic of autumn.

Then we’ll have the chance to enjoy some of the estate’s 67-acre park-like grounds during a catered picnic lunch* overlooking the Hudson River.

From there, we’ll take a short drive to Untermyer Gardens in Yonkers, a 43-acre public park featuring meticulously restored gardens inspired by ancient cultures. This serene oasis will also be painted with the brilliant colors of fall, and we'll learn all about its history during our private guided tour.

Please note:

  • The day will require some physical stamina and the ability to traverse stairs and uneven, unpaved terrain and is designed for those without physical limitations.

  • If you only want to join for 1 of the tours or part of the day, you can book the tour-only option and arrange your own transportation, however I am not certain of the availability of ubers especially returning from either of the tour locations.

  • All other attendees can book the “with transport” option to save a seat in our rental car - or let us know if you would like to drive and might have space to carpool with others!
