- the Met 1000 5th Avenue New York, NY, 10028 United States (map)
Join us on Saturday, February 8th when we’ll be kicking off Black History Month with an unforgettable exploration of Flight into Egypt: Black Artists and Ancient Egypt, 1876–Now, an extraordinary exhibition that examines how Black artists and cultural figures have drawn inspiration from ancient Egypt.
Spanning nearly 150 years of artistic and cultural expression, the exhibit features nearly 200 works across visual art, sculpture, literature, music, religion, politics, and performance.
Your experience begins with an exclusive Art-full member lunch at the elegant Met Dining Room, where you’ll enjoy a delicious meal in a sophisticated setting with fellow art enthusiasts. Following lunch, crowd favorite Helen Lee will take you through thematic sections of this groundbreaking exhibition.
Discover how Black artists have used ancient Egyptian imagery to craft a unifying identity, explore the contributions of Black scholars to Egyptology, and witness the ways modern and contemporary Egyptian artists engage with their historical legacy.
Space is limited—reserve your spot today to experience this enriching journey through art, history, and culture.
