Step into an evening of rhythm, romance, and mythology with GODDESS, a bold new musical making its highly anticipated New York premiere at The Public Theater. The night begins with a warm, elegant gathering over dinner at Vic’s, followed by an unforgettable performance that fuses Afro-jazz, myth, and the supernatural.
Set in a steamy club in Mombasa, Kenya, GODDESS tells the story of a mysterious singer whose voice stirs the soul and changes lives—especially that of a young man caught between duty and desire. Inspired by the myth of Marimba, the goddess who turned heartbreak into beautiful song, this musical invites us to question who we are meant to be.

Michael Thurber – Acclaimed composer, songwriter, and performer blending classical training with pop, jazz, and global influences. A genre-defying force whose music pulses at the heart of GODDESS.
Saheem Ali – Visionary director and playwright, also the Associate Artistic Director of The Public. Known for bringing untold stories to life with elegance and fire.
James Ijames – Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright whose sharp, poetic voice brings depth and richness to the narrative’s emotional layers.
Darrell Grand Moultrie – Electrifying choreographer celebrated on Broadway and beyond. His movement direction brings passion and power to every beat of this story.
