What Stands Behind the Flowers: Hilma at MoMA + Painting Under the Trees | 9/13
- MOMA 11 West 53rd Street New York, NY, 10019 United States (map)
Join us on Saturday, September 13 for a soul-nourishing afternoon of art, nature, and creativity as we explore the visionary world of Hilma af Klint at MoMA, followed by an optional flower-inspired painting workshop in Central Park led by artist Nikolina Kovalenko.
Af Klint’s 1919–1920 portfolio of vivid flower drawings—recently added to MoMA’s collection—merges detailed botanical study with spiritual symbolism. Her jewel-toned watercolors invite us to look closer, slow down, and reflect on the deep connection between the natural world and the inner self.
After our private, guided tour, we’ll head outdoors for a joyful, hands-on painting session surrounded by the lush beauty of Central Park. Whether you're a seasoned artist or simply looking to play with color and creativity, this is a chance to unwind, connect, and create something beautiful.
The painting workshop includes:
All art supplies (canvas, brushes, paints)
Artistic guidance by working artist, Nikolina Kovalenko
Your own flower artwork to take home
Why join?
It’s a unique way to experience art—first by viewing it, then by making it yourself in a warm & welcoming environment. From quiet inspiration to playful expression, this day offers the perfect mix of culture, connection, and creative joy. No artistic talent or experience needed - beginners welcome!
