Keeping Memories: Private Gallery Brunch + LES Art-full Discovery Walk

  • Susan Eley Fine Arts 190 Orchard Street New York, NY, 10002 United States (map)

More about the Gallery & Artists:

Susan Eley Fine Art was founded in 2006 by Susan Eisner Eley, who continues her tenure as owner and director of the space. Currently, SEFA operates two galleries—on the Lower East Side in NYC and in Hudson in Upstate New York. Conceived as a salon-style gallery, SEFA NYC was initially situated in an Upper West Side townhouse in Manhattan. Our spaces offer intimate viewing experiences—differentiating our environments from more formal presentations characteristic of the “white cube” gallery model, ubiquitous within dominant contemporary art circles. SEFA hosts a dynamic roster of American and international artists. The program focuses on contemporary art by emerging and mid-career artists, who work in a range of media—encompassing painting, printmaking, sculpture and photography. Solo and group exhibitions at both NY venues showcase abstract and figurative work, created by a diverse body of artists from the US, Latin America, Asia and Europe. In addition to its regular exhibition programming, SEFA has hosted artist talks, political fundraisers, literary and poetry salons and panel discussions on a variety of cultural and political topics—as well as participated in art fairs in Miami, Houston, San Francisco, New York City and Toronto. SEFA is a small business that is female-owned and operated, and that supports feminist and BIPOC artists and principles.

Angela A’Court’s narrative and figurative paintings use a simple and direct vocabulary to show the relationship of experience to expression of beauty and the quirkiness of everyday moments. With an eye toward balance, the artist places shapes on the paper and works with the spaces in between.

Karin Bruckner was born in Zurich Switzerland and studied architecture at the Technical University in Munich, Germany and ETH in Zurich, Switzerland. In 1986 she received her Masters Degree in Architecture from TU Munich, and a Masters Degree in Science from Columbia University in 1990. Bruckner came to Printmaking through Architecture after working in the offices of Richard Meier & Partners and Philip Johnson Architects.. Due to a structure not unlike Architecture's layers in space, Printmaking offered a unique way of re-connecting Bruckner to her life-long passion of creating Art.
