You are invited to join us for an exclusive after-hours tour and dinner at one of America’s oldest arts organizations, Salmagundi just south of Union Square.
Salmagundi [pronounced: sal-muh-guhn-dee] is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), professional and social club, created in 1871 by artists and patrons to support one another. Some iconic members include Thomas Moran (1837-1926), William Merritt Chase (1849-1916), Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933), Emil Carlsen (1848-1932), N.C. Wyeth (1882-1945), Childe Hassam (1859-1935) and Winston Churchill (1874-1965).
We will have a tour of the building, permanent collection and the current Lalique & Mucha exhibit led by Exhibition Manager, Susan Nelly. Afterwards, stay for a delicious dinner in the club’s private dining room.
All tickets include the building & exhibition tour as well as a donation to the club. Full experience tickets also include 3 course dinner + 1 glass of house wine.

Lalique & Mucha : Drawing Inspiration provides a window into two of the world’s leading luxury designer’s drawings and their inspiration. The exhibition will feature the largest collection of Lalique drawings outside of France by jewelry and glass designer Rene Lalique and the foundational drawings of Art Nouveau master Alphonse Mucha’s Documents Decoratifs (1901). The collection consists of 41 drawings and sketches covering works by the iconic designer Rene Lalique. Lalique planned and presented client’s his ideas for jewelry designs using the ink on parchment drawings from about 1894-1910. The works provide a window into the underlying geometry, nature inspiration and thought process of the artist.

Susan Nelly is a recognized expert in acquisitions in the secondary market. She began her career at Sotheby's Auction House after studying Art History, Film and Television at New York University Tisch School of the Arts. The interceding decades have seen her employed at some of the most exclusive galleries and prominent auction houses in New York City, where she gained invaluable experience and connections and advanced to leadership positions at uptown mainstays including Spanierman Gallery and Bonham’s International Auction House.
Throughout her career Susan has been dedicated to the process of matching discerning new and seasoned collectors with the finest works of art to enhance their lifestyles, and she continues to use her unparalled resources to do so. A respected member of the Fine Art community, she collaborates and networks with it’s most prominent people and organizations. Susan is a founding New York member of AWAD, The Association of Women Art Dealers, and was elected in 2009 to ARTTABLE, The Leadership Organization for Professional Women in the Visual Arts.
