Threads of Intuition weaving workshop with Chelsea Maria Bizub | 1/31 (NYC)

  • Pent House 57 W 57th St, New York, NY 10019 United States (map)

On Saturday, January 31st, join Women of Culture for a hands-on weaving workshop led by artist  Chelsea Maria Bizub—an intimate, creative afternoon inspired by our recent visit to Ruth Asawa: A Retrospective at MoMA

Rooted in Asawa’s belief that art is a living, tactile practice shaped by patience, repetition, and curiosity, this experience invites you to slow down and reconnect with the act of making.

Participants will explore the meditative joy of working with their hands, experimenting with color, texture, and pattern while creating something uniquely their own. You’ll weave on large Satori looms or work with smaller tools such as plates, cricket looms, or pill cases to create textile jewelry and soft sculptural forms.

For those who wish to push their creativity further, playful objects like purses, pillows, or mixed-media pieces can be embellished with beads, flowers, and other tactile elements.

Much like Asawa’s practice—where everyday materials become vessels for expression—this workshop emphasizes process over perfection. It offers a supportive, unhurried space to explore rhythm, repetition, and intuition while connecting with others through shared creative focus.

Whether you’re new to weaving or have experience, you’ll leave with a finished piece that reflects your personal style, along with a renewed sense of calm, inspiration, and creative clarity.

After the workshop, you are also invited to explore Chelsea’s studio and learn more about her process on a lower floor of the same building. Looms sponsored by Intertwine.
