2nd Annual Upstate Art Weekend Getaway (UPAW)
July 19th-21st, 2024

Launched in 2020, Upstate Art weekend (UPAW) is an annual event that turns all of Upstate New York, from Beacon to Albany, into a playground for the arts and art lovers — and for the 2nd year in a row, we’ll be experiencing the best of it all, together, with this carefully curated upstate art weekend of culture getaway!

Featured in The New York Times, artnet news, The Art Newspaper, Hyperallergic, Chronogram, Cool Hunting and Whitewall, among others and including over 145 participating organizations, UPAW has become the pre-eminant visual art happening of the New York summer season, complete with the beautiful Hudson Valley as a backdrop.

It promises to be THE most fun art weekend of summer 2024 - but rooms in our beautiful country house in Philisburg are limited and selling fast, so make sure to sign up here before it’s too late.

with stops in between at some of last year's favorites (such as Bull Farm and the School by Jack Shainman) along with many new experiences,
including the Girl Group Performance at Storm King on Saturday evening!

A car is needed to get around the area, as public transit isn't readily available, so you can book a spot in our rental car here.

FAQ's

1. Can I book my own hotel separate from the shared house?

Yes, though you will also need to have your own car as public transit (even ride shares) can be scarce in the area. If you would like to do this, please contact me directly at alex@womenofculture.org for pricing, etc.

2. What if I can’t take off work on Friday/need to leave that evening?

You could take the MetroNorth to Beacon and then get a car service to the house in Philipstown, or someone from the group could pick you up if the timing aligns. For uber or lyft, you may need to wait 10-20 minutes at the station before arrival but it’s a safe area, and then you can ride the rest of the weekend in one of the group member’s cars.

3. What is NOT included in the cost of the 2-night trip?

All meals as well as any additional activities or rideshare services, are separate and must be paid individually. You should estimate at least $100+/day for additional activities as well as food & drinks.

4. What if I don’t know anyone — do I need to come with a friend?

No! Most women attend our trips on their own, and the idea is that we will all get to know one another over the course of the weekend. However, please do let me know if you are coming with a friend with whom you would like to share a room.

5. Do I have to stay with the group/attend all pre-planned activities on the itinerary?

All attendees are expected to attend the scheduled group activities unless the group leader is given advance notice, or in the event of sickness or an emergency. No refunds can be provided for any of the included activities not attended, and we won’t be able to arrange any transport to things that aren’t included in the itinerary.

Please remember this a group trip designed for the community to experience UPAW, together. Please do NOT book the trip if you prefer to do your own thing or are not aligned with the proposed itinerary.
