Join arts-based social networking community, Women of Culture, for a virtual studio visit and artist talk with Nikolina Kovalenko, whose work explores the symbolism of textures found in Nature, magnifying the mundane and transforming it into the sublime.
Register here.
Born in Russia and currently living in Brooklyn, Nikolina is interested in humanity’s vanishing connection with Nature and strives to expose the consequences our everyday actions have on the environment. She works with fragile ecosystems, creating artwork inspired by locations specific to each project. Her subjects range from global warming, deforestation and coral bleaching, to processing and interpreting visual landscape and cultural associations.
She is also an avid traveler and recently returned from a six-month backpacking trip all over South America, where she painted and sketched anything that amazed her. She will share with us more of her work and experiences from that trip, and will also talk to us about her numerous other projects which combine both art and nature.
Having the chance to see an artist’s studio is like getting a peek into their heart & soul and provides a much better understanding of their work and process. Plus, this studio visit will be fully interactive so that you will have the chance not only to experience Nikolina's latest work in a unique way, but also to ask her questions and engage in dialogue with the artist herself.
As with all of our virtual connection sessions, the event is gender inclusive and there will also be time to connect with the community and get to know the fellow attendees.
It is being offered with a $5 minimum suggested donation and limited comp tickets available to those who have been financially impacted by COVID-19. All registrants will receive the zoom call-in info on their receipt and a recording will be made available afterwards.
