First, we’ll be preparing a classic Tuscan dessert: Florentine Meringue. A little different from what you may have had in the US, the Italian version has a cream filling and is topped with wild berries, or “frutti di bosco”. Our hosts, Anna Maria and her mother, Mariaemilia, will also share the history of the dessert, along with some family stories.
While we wait for the meringue to bake, this mother-daughter team will take us on a virtual tour of their breathtaking home, a palazzo that has been lived in by the same family for over 500 years! Every corner is full of history and elaborate Art Nouveau details that make this house tour a one-of-a-kind, exclusive experience.
By the end of the class, you will have made a beautiful and delicious Tuscan dessert and will understand the history and tradition behind it. You will receive a list of the very simple ingredients needed to participate as soon as you book (all are easily order-able through FreshDirect, or available at your local bodega).
As with all of our virtual connection sessions, the event is gender inclusive and there will also be time to connect with the community and get to know the fellow attendees. All registrants will receive the zoom call-in info on their receipt and a recording will be made available afterwards.
