You are invited to join arts-based social networking community, Women of Culture, for a live online performance by Kerri Van Kirk, with a post-performance discussion and talkback. Advance registration required here.
In her latest one woman show of poems and songs, writer and performer Kerri Van Kirk takes us on a journey of entering into adulthood as a woman in America. From eating disorders not "bad enough" for treatment to falling in love, from grappling with patriarchal self-hatred to the haunting memories of past assault. To searching for meaning, self-love and understanding until she discovers what she knew all along - the only person that can save her - is herself.
A deep look at what it is to be on a self-actualizing journey, you'll laugh, you'll cry and leave inspired to re-write any disempowering narratives you've been telling about yourself, so that no matter what has happened to you in the past - you can rise again.
After the 45 minute performance, attendees are encouraged to stay on for an intimate talkback and conversation with Kerri about how she created the work as well as the themes and ideas presented in it.
As with all of our virtual connection sessions, there will be time to connect with the community and get to know the fellow attendees.
$10 minimum suggested donation; $15 if purchased the day of the event.
