Many people believe they can’t dance, or they don’t enjoy it when they do — but that’s only because they are letting their nerves or self-judgement get in the way, because we were all BORN to move!
During this time of quarantine and physical distancing, movement is more necessary for our mental health and wellbeing than ever — but it can be a struggle to find enjoyable ways to do so, especially when stuck inside a small apartment and left to our own devices.
But dance is always available and accessible, no matter how out of shape or out of rhythm you think you might be. This virtual ‘field trip’ is all about letting go of any pre-conceived ideas about what dance should be or should look like and finding the movement that feels right for you and your body.
We will go through some basic warm-ups, grounding ourselves and tapping into our bodies as well as a few very basic steps that can be done even in a small space. You won’t have to learn any specific choreography but instead, you will learn how to dance like no one is watching as a form of stress release and exercise, bringing more joy and fulfillment into your life, especially during this difficult time. No dance training necessary and no judgement allowed.
About your Host
Dance is my lifeblood. It has been my most favorite past-time ever since I started taking ballet classes at the age of 5. I taught dance in high school and college and have been heavily involved in the NYC dance scene for the past 15 years. I am also the Founder of an arts-based social networking community called Women of Culture, through which I have helped many others discover a love of dance and the arts in general. I have led numerous in-person and virtual events and love helping others tap into their creativity.
