Women & The Arts: A Belated Women's History Month Celebration with Hall W. Rockefeller

More about Hall W. Rockefeller:

Hall holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in the history of art and has given lectures at the National Arts Club (NY) and Black Mountain College (NC) and has been published in art publications such as Hyperallergic and Sculpture Magazine, among others. She founded Less than Half in response to the fact that, between 2008 and 2018 only 14% of solo museum shows in the U.S. featured a female artist, even though women make up 51% of the population.

More about Less Than Half:

Less Than Half is a website dedicated to the unsung heroines of the art world, the women who worked alone, the women who worked in the shadows of their husbands, and the women who were deemed ‘minor’ in movements of majors. "An art world that doesn’t acknowledge the works of female artists and artists of color is not only an inequitable one, but one that ultimately harms art’s higher purpose: to expand our understanding of the world through seeing."
