More about your teacher:
Carey Kirkella is an award-winning photographer with 20+ years experience. I’ve collaborated on ad campaigns, custom image libraries for many different types of companies and brands, small businesses and purpose-driven organizations.
She says: “My storytelling images help brands connect emotionally with their audiences. And I’ve been told many times that one of my super-powers as a photographer is that I have the ability to help anyone quickly feel at ease when I’m photographing them. I’m passionate about mental and emotional health, and so I’ve combined my love of storytelling photography and personal development by creating The L.E.N.S. Method™. It’s a framework I’ve designed to help others learn what I’ve been doing for my entire life - how to use the process of making images as a tool for mindfulness and emotional resilience. It’s smartphone photography as a force for good in our lives. In addition to commercial work, I’m a fine art photographer and have exhibited my work internationally. One of my photo projects that I’m passionate about is called Sisters & Survivors, portraits of breast cancer survivors with their sisters. It’s a tribute to my sister, who my family lost to the disease in 2013. It’s also an awareness campaign for the needs of people living with Stage IV (metastatic) breast cancer, which receives the least amount of funding for research.”
